What happened Friday at Halas Hall:
Monangai returns to practice
Bears No. 2 running back Kyle Monangai practiced Friday for the first time in more than a month after hurting his toe in the Week 4 win over the Jets, when he rushed a career-high 30 times and finished with 146 yards and two touchdowns.
He was limited in practice and it seems unlikely that he’ll play Sunday against the Buccaneers, but the Bears listed him as questionable. With the bye week coming up, Monangai would get two more weeks to recover before facing the Saints on Nov. 22 by sitting out Sunday.
Jarrett likely to play
The Bears’ injuries have been a little tougher to gauge this week, coach Ben Johnson said, because of the quick turnaround returning from Seattle on Tuesday and not holding a normal practice until Thursday.
He mentioned that specifically when asked about defensive tackle Grady Jarrett, who has missed time with a groin injury, but expected him to play against the Buccaneers.
Cornerback concerns
Bears cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson (thumb) and Malik Muhammad (toe) have been pressing through injuries, but both were limited in practice Friday and listed as questionable for the game.
Benedet to play
Bears left tackle Theo Benedet injured his shoulder in the win over the Seahawks on Monday, but practiced in full Friday and was cleared to play.
Bucs’ updates
The Bucs ruled out starting outside linebacker Yaya Diaby and listed wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (foot) as questionable, though Egbuka practiced in full Thursday and Friday.
Left tackle Tristan Wirfs (toe) and safety Tykee Smith (ankle) will play.
Vacation plans?
When asked how many days, if any, he will take off during the bye week, Johnson said, “As much as my wife wants me to... I'll find out after the game what she wants to do, but if we're in town, it's going to be hard not to come [to Halas Hall] for at least a little bit.”
