Syracuse (2-3, 0-3 ACC) returns to the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, October 17 (7:30 PM ET, ACC Network) to host Louisville (3-3, 2-2 ACC), still looking for its first conference win. Fran Brown has settled his quarterback situation for now and named Malachi Nelson the starter. Nelson started last week’s 28-25 loss at Virginia, where Syracuse lost a double-digit lead late in the third quarter, and he left in the fourth with a shoulder injury. His health is worth watching once the game starts, because the depth behind him is thin. Steve Angeli is managing soreness in his surgically repaired Achilles, Amari Odom (shoulder) is out, and Danny Lauter is the emergency option.
